So I though every now and then I would share one with you. So to start this all off, this is one of my favorite quotes;

So let me know if you want me to post a quote a week ?

Get Rid Of Blackheads!

No matter who you are or how old you are, we are all prone to a little break out every now and then, and for some people it can be a whole lot worse than others. But what everyone has in common are blackheads. Worry no more, I will show you how to get rid of them with only two household ingredients you probably already have lying around your house:

Lemons Honey

This process only takes 5 minutes and you will see immediate results. Simply cut the lemon in half and drop 3-4 drops of honey straight onto one half, rub the lemon on your face emphasising the blackhead areas or the areas you are more prone to spots or breakouts, leave the lemon and honey mixture on your face for aprox 5 minutes then rinse of with cold water.

Only a short post today as I have a mountain of revision to do for some exams I have next week!
Thank you for reading,

Lee Stafford 'Sea Salt Spray'

We all want that beach hair look, the care-free messy hair that reminds us of summer, friends, relaxing and not having any worries. The hair that looks like you just got out of bed (no matter how many times I get out of bed, my hair will never look like that, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards) So I went on a mission to find the easiest way to achieve this look.

First I decided to hit youtube, and found various tutorials on how to get 'beach hair' without going to the beach. Most involved braiding your hair when its wet and sleeping on it, (which I did) and after waking up I undone the braids and to be fair my hair was curly, but it was just too curly, it was to neat and didn't have that 'messy' feel I was going for.

So I went back to the good old internet and came across a selection of sea salt sprays which claim to 'give you the beach effect' as the salt in the spray brings out textured waves in your hair, just as the sea salt water does at the beach. So I picked up the Lee Stafford Sea Salt Spray from Boot's, in there 3 for 2 offer (which is still going on). I think it was around £7.

Anyway I read the instructions, basically spray it in your wet hair and either blow dry it or let it dry naturally  I decided to let it dry naturally and the results were great. Not excellent but good enough for me to want to use it again, I did find that it knotted my hair a bit, but I guess thats what happens when your at the beach to, so its the whole experience I suppose. It did however create beach waves and supprisingly they stayed in all day (as my hair has a habit of falling out of normal curls, its naturally straight).

Good Points:

  • Did create beach waves
  • Easy to use
  • Quick
  • Affordable

Bad Points:
  • Hair tangles after using it
  • Hair becomes dry
  • Will need a deep condition after using this product

I took a picture of myself after using the Sea Salt Spray so you can see the results:

I hope you liked my little review of the Lee Stafford Sea Salt Spray, and hopefully you found it useful, If you have any questions about this product, please leave me a message and I will be sure to answer it.

Thanks for reading,
Rachel Ward.

Euh! Revision Sucks!

Hi Guys, I have two exams next month, the 3rd and 7th of may to be exact and I am freaking out right now! I am 100% certain that Im going to fail these two exams and have absolutely no idea what Im supposed to be studying.

As you may or may not know I hate university, especially the course im doing which makes it even more difficult for me to revise for something I despise.

Anyhow I dont want to fail and as much as I hate it im going to give it my best shot even though my uni is awful and I feel like they havent prepared me (or the rest of my course mates) for these exams.

Im in my 2nd year doing Criminology, so if theres a lovely person out there who has any idea what Im supposed to be studying I would much appreciate some advice, as I literally have no idea.

The only thing that is getting me through is the selection of coloured pens I have to work with. I know im easily amused, but I find working in blue or black ink to be a bore and to liven up this awful time im going to inject some color into my revision.

Sorry about this post, its nearly as boring as my revision, and to be honest im now procrastinating so I better get back to it :(

Thanks for reading, and wish me luck,
Rachel Ward.

The product I want to talk about today is called 'Cake Pop Tops', I was kindly sent these products by a lovely company called CakeCraftWorld.co.uk which sell all sorts of cake supplies and decorative kits to making baking and decorating a more fun and enjoyable experience.

You dont need those skills to use these pop tops, there re-usable to which is always a plus in my books as your saving money as well as making something fabulous.

So of course I had to try them out (because you know me I love to decorate) and In my opinion they have to be in my top 10 for new favorite cake decorating products as they cannot get any simpler and just look at what I created:

Two Months To Go !

As some of you may know from watching my youtube videos, I am going on a trek this summer and Im so exited you have no idea! Im going on the 'South to South Trek' with Trek America and as the title says I travel from south coast to south coast starting in New York and finishing in LA. I leave on the 19th June but the trek doesn't start till a few days after that so I intend to spend those few days prior exploring New York as its my favorite city in the world, I've already been there twice but there is never to many times to visit the city that never sleeps!

Ive gotten to the stage now where I have to start calculating things up and deciding on how much money I should bring, what I should bring with me, what I need to buy, where I want to go when Im there, literally I have lists coming out of my ears. The trek lasts 5 weeks, and I have my return flight already booked for 1 day after the treks over but I defiantly am going to change that, I want to stay in LA for as long as my money allows me to, and so I am thinking of transferring it for 1-2 weeks after that.

So I think I've mentioned before, but if not I will let you know know all the places I will be visiting on the trek;
  • New York
  • Washington DC
  • Carolinas
  • Charleston
  • St Augustine
  • Miami
  • Florida Keys
  • Orlando
  • Panama City Beach
  • New Orleans
  • San Antonio
  • West Texas
  • Carlsbad Caverns National Park
  • Sante Fe
  • Mesa Verde National Park
  • Colorado Rocky Mountains
  • Arches National Park
  • Monument Valley
  • Grand Canyon National Park
  • Lake Powell
  • Bryce Canyon National Park
  • Zion National Park
  • Las Vegas
  • San Diego
  • Los Angeles
So there it is, thats a lot of places to cram into five weeks of travelling but apparently its do-able. I have lots to do in preparation for this trip of a lifetime and will be documenting it via Youtube and blog posts, so stay tuned if you want to see how it all pans out.

What should I do in my two weeks in LA?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Schwarzkopf Supersoft Kids Detangling Spray

I may be 20 but that doesn't mean I can't use this product. In fact I have found this detangling spray to be a lifesaver, literally. My hair is so difficult to brush when I get out of the shower, I will brush and brush it but somehow this seems to add tangles rather than remove them, so I went on a hunt for a selection of leave in conditioners and hair de-tanglers and came across this, and boy am I happy that I did.

I literally get out of the shower, towel dry my hair and spray between 10-15 squirts of this stuff all over my head (mostly focusing on the middle to tips) then take a normal hairbrush, I use a paddle brush and brush through my hair, and the brush just glides through without a single glitch or tangle, its like magic!
And best of all it smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Its like a mixture of strawberries and kiwi fruits. It leaves my hair feeling and smelling fantastic and there shouldn't be a rule to say its just for kids because quite frankly its the best detangler I have ever used.

So the next time your in a drugstore and looking for something to tame your tangles, have a look down the kids ailse and you may be pleasantly surprised by what you find, plus the children's products are usually almost a fraction of the price, so you saving money along the way.

Good Points:
- Smells Amazing
- Works like magic
- Cheaper than average adult detangler
- No artificial colours

Bad Points:
- I cannot think of any bad points to this product only thats its specifically targeted towards kids, and so maybe your average adult probably would walk past it without giving it a second glance.

Thanks for reading my review of the Schwarzkopt Supersoft Kids Detangling Spray,
Rachel Ward.

- Any questions about this product, leave me a comment and I will be sure to assit you.

Red Velvet Cake

A popular American cake with a rich buttermilk flavoured chocolate sponge, it is coloured deep red by edible food colouring and topped of with a traditional cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients:

For the cake:
- 225g unsalted butter
- 4 tbsp water
- 55g cocoa powder
- 3 eggs
- 250ml buttermilk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp red food colouring
- 280g plain flour
- 55g cornflour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 280g caster sugar

For the frosting:
- 250g cream cheese
- 40g unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Lets Get Baking:

1. Preheat oven to 190degreesC or gas mark 5 & grease and line two 9inch cake tins

2. place butter, water and cocoa powder in a small saucepan and heat gently without boiling until smooth, then remove from heat and leave to cool slightly

3. Beat together the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract and food colouring until frothy, then add the butter/cocoa powder mixture to this and combine together

4. In a separate bowl sift the flour, corn flour and baking powder together and add the caster sugar.

5. Combine the flour/caster sugar mixture to the mixture with the cocoa powder and beat together until smooth

6. Spoon the mixture into the prepared tins and bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

7. Leave to cool on a wire rack

8. To make the frosting beat together all the ingredients until smooth, use about half the mixture to sandwich the cakes together and the remaining to cover over the top of the cake and around the sides.

TOP TIP!
Take care not to over beat the cream cheese frosting as it can go a little runny. If this happens, chill it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream

I have always been a huge fan of Burt's Bees products and the minute I smelled this jar in the store I knew I had to buy it. It has smells like marzipan and almonds blended together, a sweet scent that I cannot get enough of, it should say 'Do not eat' on the jar because the smell it literally that good.

Burt's Bees almond milk beeswax hand cream is made from sweet almond oil and vitamin E to moisturise dry skin and beeswax to seal and shield your hands from the elements. This hand cream is 100% natural so people with allergies or reactions to certain products will be pleasantly surprised with Burt's Bees.

This is a super thick hand cream and works fantastically for dry skin, ex-ma or any skin irritations or cracking. Within 1-2 days you will (as I did) see noticeable improvements int he smoothness and softness of your hands, not only your hands but you can use this product on your elbows, knees and feet too!

This little jar lasts a lifetime, honestly I have been using one jar consistently for 10 months and its still not empty so its defiantly worth paying the extra few pounds for this product than buying a nog standard hand cream that you will not see benefits with. I bought this jar for £9.99 in Boots. You can however get it of BurtsBees.co.uk for the same price.

I will never use another hand product again as I think I have found 'The One' in hand care products!

Review: Sun In Hair Lightener

I have been using Sun In (super) on my hair now for over 3 years and thought it was time I gave a little review of this product as I have used it a lot, and like everything it does come with its good points and bad points. So if your thinking of lightening your hair but are unsure if Sun In is the right product for you then hopefully this information will help you come to a final decision about weather or not to try it out.

Here in England we only have two versions of Sun In. A gentle version or a super version. I cannot give you my opinion of the gentle version as I have never used it. I always opt for the Super version as I want maximun results. Sun In is basically a spray in hair lightener for all year round lightening, so you just spray it all over your hair and let the sun do its magic or if your like me and dont like in a sunny climate drag out the hairdryer and dry your hair making sure the dryer is on its hottest temperature. The more times you spray your hair the lighter it will get. You can buy Sun In in any drug stores and most supermarkets, I picked this bottle up from Boots for £5.77.

Sun in contains 6% Hydrogen Peroxide which is basically a bleach and thats the ingredient that gives actually lightens your hair, because of this a pair of plastic gloves are included in the box to make sure none of the 'bleach' gets on your hands, but honestly I have never used the gloves and my hands are fine, you will need to wash your hands after using the sun in but I find the gloves a bit of a pain in the back side because trying to squirt the bottle into your hair using slippery plastic gloves is never a good idea. An instruction leaflet is also included in the box, its nothing to interesting just giving you tips on how to apply the product. One bottle of Sun In should last between 5-10 applications depending on how long your hair is and how much you spray into your hair. I would suggest not using sun in any more than twice a week. For me I would typically use it maybe once or twice every two weeks depending on how my hair looks and feels.

My natural hair colour is between blonde and light brown, and after using Sun In it lighted it up considerably, and continues to lighten it every time I use it. I use Sun In after I wash and brush my hair, then spray it in my wet hair focusing on the roots of my head and massaging it in with my finger to make sure its evenly distributed, I will also turn my head upside down and spray the back of my head and tips of my hair. After I feel likes its even all over my hair I DO NOT BRUSH IT, but grab my blowdryer on its hottest setting and dry away my whole head making sure the roots of my head dry first and then my whole head. Once its dried the results are immediate, I will then brush my hair once its dried and vwolla!

The good points:
  • Immediate blonde hair without the waiting around, just spray it in. Simple.
  • Sun In is not as harsh to your hair as a typical blonde hair dye.
  • One bottle can be used multiple times and its very inexpensive. One bottle is usually under £6.
  • You can create highlights, or pick and choose strands of hair you want to lighten, and you are in control of how light you want your hair to be.

However like I said there are some drawbacks to this product,
  • Firstly if you have very dark brown, black or gray hair then its not recommended that you use this product to lighted your hair as there is a possibility of it turning orange. However if you do have doubt you can always do a test patch on the underneath of your hair before committing to your whole head.
  • Secondly if you have recently had a perm or have color teated hair then again its not recommended you use Sun In. However I have head of people dying there hair blonde and using Sun In with no problems, but others have found it turns there hair an orangey/coppery colour.
  • Thirdly Sun In dried out your hair a lot! I have experienced this, and have found a way to counteract the dryness, using a selection of leave-in conditioners and hair masks help a lot.

But other than that I cannot rave about this product enough. like I said I have been using it for aprox three years and cannot live without it. I would go as far as saying its my holy grail product in the hair and beauty world.

So if you want that beach surfer hair, without paying the air fair pick up a bottle from your local drugstore and get spraying!

If you have any questions/queries about this product or want to know something I have not mentioned then please let me know in the comments section and I will be sure to get back to you with a reply.

Book Review: Divergent

So I finally read Divergent by Veronica Roth after meaning to read it for what seemed like a year and I cannot believe I left it that long. Seriously it was the best book I have read all year (and I read a lot of books). There was never a dull moment and every page I turned I was filled with emotions from shocked, to sad to dam right angry!

Summary of Divergent by Veronica Roth:
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris, and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together, they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes-fascinating, sometimes-exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret: one she’s kept hidden from everyone, because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly-perfect society, she also learns that her secret might be what helps her save those she loves . . . or it might be what destroys her.

I really enjoyed reading this book and found that I could relate to the main character (Tris) and found her to be a very likeable character something thats not easy for an author to do especially for a female lead role. She was seen as a strong female protagonist but at the same time she was also seen as weak and a bit frantic at times but thats what I liked about this character. Also the alliances and enemies she creates through this story play a key role and create strong dynamics that at times become very intense and forced me to read on.

I would go as far as saying this book is on par with the Harry Potter series ! Yes I did just say that dont shoot me please! Its just my opinion and in no way a stamped fact but if I had my way I would make it be!

Divergent is the first in a trilogy of books, the second called insurgent and the third due to be realsed later this year (2013).

I also created a video review if you want to check that out I will leave it below !

Thanks for reading my review!
See you next time,
Rachel Ward

Sperrys Boat shoes...

So for the past few days I have been frantically searching the web for a pair of boat shoes I saw on Pinterest. After finally tracking down the designer and brand name I found that these shoes I was madly in love with were called Sperrys. But after pages and pages of Google searches I couldn't find the exact colour and style that I initially saw and became obsessed with which were called the Angelfish coral stripe. (Heres a photo of them below)

They are so beautiful and it just makes me so sad that I found out they were discontinued about two months ago ! Why? what did I do wrong to be punished like this, it makes me so sad that the one pair I want are no longer available. To be honest things like this always happen to me, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Anyway one good thing did come out of this web search and I found another two pairs that (wait for it) are available in the UK ! and have not been discontinued! Yippie! However with all good news come bad news, and in this case its the price. They are roughly around £80 a pair. Which is on the higher side of my budget but are totally worth it after reading the many reviews people have posted. I am most probably not going to purchase the two pairs but will pick one and thats where you my lovely readers come it. I need your help to decide which pair to go for because to be quite honest I cannot decide.

Ok, so the first pair are called Sperry Angelfish Gold Glitter:

I really like the gold detailing on both sides of these shoes and the shimmery lace tie adds a little extra twist to the original.

The second pair are called Sperry Angelfish Oat Linen:

These one are pretty similar colour however have no gold or glitter and are more versatile, they have oat coloured canvas sides and tongue and will go with absolutely any outfit I put together.

So my dilema is I simple. I cannot choose between both pairs and need your help! Any advice or personal preferences would be greatly appreciated in helping me reach my final decision.

Banana & Peanut Butter Smoothie.

Banana and peanut butter in anything is always a good thing in my books, so turning it into a smoothie, well thats just seems like the most obvious next step right?

Banana + Peanut Butter, Caramel + Vanilla, any way you put it, it cannot go wrong! theres just something about these set of ingredients that I cannot get enough of, so I used my simple banana smoothie and developed it into something so much more that I just had to share it with you.

So you want to know how to make this wonderful creation?

You dont need much just;

1 banana
1 pot of low fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup of sweetened almond milk
2-3 tablespoons of caramel (make it from scratch or use tinned, its completely up to you)
1 teaspoon of smooth peanut butter

Non vital extras:
sweetened whipped cream
Vanilla wafer rolls

Once you've gathered up your ingredients it time to get blending. Thats right just blend everything up in a blender or smoothie maker if you have one and pour into a glass, top with sweetened whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel then stick a vanilla wafer in the top and lock your front door, unhook your phone and sit infront of the TV, its your time to relax and not worry about anyone or anything. Indulge yourself...Go on you know you want to.

Happy blending,
Thanks for reading & please share this recipe with your family and friends. they will love you forever.

Spring Style-List

I thought I would make a list, because lists and me, well we kind of go together like cheese and crackers, and whats life without lists hey? I couldn't even imagine it. So seeing as spring is closely approaching us, well living in England when I say spring what I really mean is winter minus the snow we do however get the odd day when there are no clouds and everyone parades around wearing virtually no clothes when it still reads -5 degrees outside, it is quite funny to sit back and people watch on days like this. The sights you see...

Anyway let me get back on topic, so lists, yeah today Im going to make a some what of a fashion 'wish list' type thing. For a bunch of stuff that I most probably wont buy because lets face it im not made of money but maybe just maybe I might treat myself to one or two of them.

Without further ado, lets get crack-a-lacking!
Bear in mind the majority of things on my list of mine are shoes...oppss... I guess you could say I have maybe just a little bit of an addition to shoes.

1. These shoes are so simple, I really like the navy outline to the slipper, its a real contrast to the softer gray/white stripe of the main shoe.

2. Brogues are my favorite, There really elegant and timeless. These two toned brogues are brilliant especially the mixture of brown traditional leather and more contemporary black suede.

3. I really love this california laid back style and these vans are perfect for those days surfing by the beach. This greenish/blueish colour I havent ever seen before but I think these are the perfect pair of vans!

4. This dress is so pretty, POLKADOTS! thats all I can say about this, Im a huge fan of the polkadot design, and the leather jacket gives it a rock-chic edge.

5. These shoes are so cute, they remind me of something I cant quite put my finger on. But they are so pretty none the less. They are like a broughy/boat shoe hybrid.

6. What! this is a woman's best friend, theres a space for everything and everything has a space. Comes in so many different colours to.

7. This ear ring is so elegant and pretty, defiantly a must have.

8. This dress, cardigan and bag combination is pure genius. Love it, defiantly going to recreate it myself.

9. Oh My Goodness! These socks are the cutest socks I think I have ever seen in my 20 years!

10. Moccasins, I cant get enough of them! Look. so soft and comfy.

11. These slipper style shoe type things! dont really know what to call them but it doesn't even matter they are so gorgeous.

12. More shoes, boat shoes this time! I dont know what it is about me and boat shoes but there is something in my head that keeps me buying them, maybe its because they are just so awesome.

13. This bag would be perfect for a long haul flight or trip to the supermarket. I do love a big bag and the interior is always as important as the exterior and this bag does not disappoint, look at those stripes.

14. More socks, I just couldn't not include these there so cute, the colour and the lace top.

15. This entire outfit is perfection! love the socks and boots combination with the summer dress and thick knit cardigan.

16. Chelsea boots. I have been eyeing these up for a few years know but still havent managed to actually get my hands on a pair. One day...

17. This jacket. Oh my! beautiful. simply beautiful.

18. I love these satchel bags and have two already but never have I seen green or blue ! Defiantly a must have for spring.

19. Haha this made me laugh when I first saw it because its defiantly the opposite of me, Im a bit of a stress freak and hate being late for anything. Maybe if I buy this watch it will help me relax a bit more.

20. I am in love with this watch the rose gold and grey contrasting colours are so unique and beautiful  I have to have this but no doubt it is way out of my price range.

21. I have so many backpacks and this one needs to be in my collection. Never have I seen lace on a backpack of this style. Its so pretty.

22. So its sort of like a satchel style bag in what seems to be suede  The top pattern is what drew me to this bag though. Perfection.

23. More moccasins. Simple and stylish !

24. I love this aztek prink backpack. Yep I can just see myself wearing this all spring/summer.

25. Another watch. This one reminds me of something you would find at urban outfitters, so unique and stylish.

26. This bag. I need it! I love how the red bag is vibrant against the grey tones of the cardigan and skirt.

27. More boat shoes. These one are a bit more casual and I think would go perfect with some denim shorts.

28. Such a beautiful dress. Need I say any more.
